AIR BRAKE ENDORSEMENT 'Z' COURSE

Course Description:

This course intended to provide information on laws regulations and correct procedures required to drive the vehicle equipped with Air Brake System as used on trucks, tractors and buses.

It is mandatory for the driver of an air-brake equipped vehicle must have a "Z" endorsement on their licence.

Since March 2002, there  is a big change in Air Brake Endorsement course. Now this 12 hour Air Brake Course includes theory as well as practical.

This course is presented under the recognized authority of the Ontario Safety League according to the guide lines of the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario

 

Prerequisites:

Drivers must hold a valid Ontario’s Driver Licence with ‘G’ Class.

 

Topics included:

  • Fundamentals of compressed air
  • Fundamentals of Breaking
  • Operation of Air Brake System
  • Foundation brakes and brake adjustment
  • Inspecting Air Brake System Components
  • Functional check and inspecting Air Brake Adjustments

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Explain a through knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to operate the vehicle with Air Brake System.
  • To perform an effective pre-trip inspection to ensure proper brake system operation before the unit is put on to the road.
  • Identify defects in the air brake components.
  • Check the Brake Adjustments.

Format Classroom:

Interactive workshop with formal instructions, video, discussion and  hands on training on working brake assembly in class and on actual vehicle.

AIR BRAKE ADJUSTMENT

Course Description:

This course intended to provide information on laws, regulations and correct procedures for checking and performing Air Brake Adjustments.

Trade Qualification & Apprenticeship Act-amended by Reg.269/96 This 1996 amendment allowed drivers to adjust air brake chamber push rod stroke on trucks and trailers so equipped, provided that they had successfully completed an approved course of study.

This course is presented by the Ontario Safety League on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Ontario.

 

Prerequisites:

Drivers must hold a valid licence with ‘Z’ endorsement

  • Importance of good driving techniques
  • Components of S-CAM foundation brake
  • Identifying defects
  • Checking brake adjustments
  • Performing brake adjustment
  • Other components & brake types

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion, participants will be able to:

  • Explain a through knowledge of the laws and regulations that apply to performing Air Brake Adjustments.
  • Be proficient in checking the proper condition and functioning of an air brake system
  • Deliver cargo safely and on time.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE

Course Description:

This course is based on the role of the drivers attitude in determining and affecting driving behaviour. The focus is to allow the participants to discover their driving attitude and the affect it has on the way they handle themselves while driving ;thereby, allowing them to make the necessary positive changes to their driving habits.

PROFESSIONAL DRIVER IMPROVEMENT COURSE (PDIC)

Course Description:

PDIC helps professional drivers improve their defensive driving techniques. The course consists of six hour sessions in a classroom setting.

This course is designed by the Canada Safety Council. The Driver's Notebook contains case studies, driving tips and other useful information, in addition to the course.

LOG BOOK TRAINING CANADA & US

Course Description:

Fatigue is a proven safety hazard for commercial drivers, and violating regulated limits can have serious consequences for carrier's operating record, profitability and road safety in general. Maintaining and Keeping a daily log is an important part of your job as a commercial driver.

This course is designed step by step program to teach professional (Truck / Bus) drivers how to filling a log book and complying with the hours of work / service regulations for Canada and U.S.

BORDER CROSSING (CANADA & US)

Course Description:

This course is designed to provide the student with a  information, understanding and leads you need to ensure that you, your vehicle and your load will comply with Canadian and US border crossings and ICC regulations apply to commercial truck driving.

In this course, the student is taught customs documentations, Canadian and US border regulations, and US licensing regulations. This course is designed for working a commercial transportation capacity.

  • Canadian and US regulation applies to cross the border
  • Bills of lading, manifests, invoices, customs brokers, line releases, FAST, bonds, cargo control documents, and more
